Andaman & Nicobar Island is a Paradise for Travelers. If you are a beach person, have love for sea & environment & want to leave away from the Technology for few days & truly wants to enjoy holiday in real sense then it is the perfect destination to visit.

Port Blair is the gateway & capital of Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It is well connected with rest part of India by Air & Sea. With the recent expansion of the Airport Terminal, its capacity has increased to handle a greater number of passengers.

Best Time to Visit Andaman & Reason

Andaman & Nicobar Island is having a Tropical Climate throughout the year; thus, it is a year-round destination for tourist. It is neither too hot not cold throughout the year. Highest temperature goes to 37 Degree in Summer & 20 Degree in Winter.

However, the best time to visit is between October to April, as during this time climate is quite pleasant & it is good of Activity (Mainly Water Sports), Sight Seeing & etc. Rest of the months is also good to visit but it is it hot during summers & rainy season there are high tidal waves. Also, the entire year climate is humid depending on the month you visit.

Number of Days to be planned

There are quite few islands which normally as a tourist we have visited. But some of the most visited & popular tourist islands are Port Blair, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island (Ross Island), North Bay Island, Havelock Island, Neil Island & others. We have planned to visit these islands based on our research & travel agency recommendation.

For visiting these islands, the ideal time required 6 Nights & 7 Days. During these days, you can experience the entire island, sports activity, ferry rides, explore local cuisines etc.

How to Travel or Reach Andaman Nicobar & Cost of Travel

Port Blair is a gateway & well connected by Air & Sea. By sea, it takes around 3 to 4 days of time from Kolkata, Chennai or Visakhapatnam. By Air its well connected with major cities of India. Air fare will vary based on your date of Travel, Time of Booking, from city you are travelling & other circumstances. If you book through any travel agent, it will provide you a complete package, which will also include Air Ticket.

Itinerary (6 Days & 7 Nights)

Our tour plan started from Kolkata to Port Blair by Air India Flight & return was also planned through Air India to Kolkata. We took 5.40 AM Flight from Kolkata & arrived at Port Blair at 7:50 AM, thus saving entire day for Local Port Blair Visit. Return we have also planned of morning to arrive early at Kolkata & take rest for the day. You can plan your flight as per your convenience & plan direct or through travel agent.

We have visited Port Blair, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island (Ross Island), North Bay Island, Havelock Island, Neil Island. 6 Days & 7 Days itinerary is as below:

1st Day at Port Blair: Arrived in Morning. After taking a bit of rest, started at around 2 PM & visited Cellular Jail, we were there from around 2 Hours.  Carbyn’s Cove Beach, which was around 7 KM from Cellular Jail. You can explore boat ride here. Later we again came back to Cellular Jail in evening for Light & Sound Show, which explains the history of Andaman Nicobar Island in around 45 Minutes.

2nd Day at North Bay & Ross Island: 2nd day, we have started early at 8 AM. To visit both the Island, we have to visit through a boat, which is a shared one. It takes around 20 Minutes from Port Blair to go to North Bay Island through boat. Here you can do the Scuba Diving Activity to experience &s spot under water multiple types of fish, lobster, coral reefs etc. From there you can also go on a boat for Paragliding Activity in Sea. This will be one of the best experiences you will ever have. Next from North Bay Island, boat will carry you to Ross Island (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island), wherein you can see JAPANESE BUNKER of World War times & other historical building. Later on you can visit on same boat back to Port Blair.

3rd & 4th Day Havelock Island: We need to start early at 6 AM as by 7 AM Govt. Ship Leaves for Havelock Island. We reached at round 11 AM, took rest & lunch for another 3 hours. Post that we left for Radhanagar Beach, which was around 5 KM from the location we were staying. Radhanagar Beach is Asia’s 7th cleanest & most beautiful beach. Tidal Flow & current is also not that high. If you want to enjoy the beach, this will be the most preferred beach in the entire trip.

4th Day, on a small size boat, we were taken to Elephanta Caves, which was around 20 Minutes ride. Here you can also go trekking. One of the best activities to do here is snorkeling along with others.

5th & 6th Day to Neil Island:  Next day we left for Neil Island from Havelock at 8 AM. It took around 2 Hours of travel. Here we have 1st Visited Natural Bridge (Made Up of Rocks) & then to Bharatpur & Laxampur Beach, which are 2 adjoining beaches & you can enjoy the Sunset overhear. Next day (6th Day), we woke at 4 PM to experience sunrise at these beaches. Post taking rest & after lunch, we went back to Port Blair, which take around 3 hours. We reach around 4 PM. After taking rest, we enjoyed local cuisine in dinner at Night with a Sea View.

7th Day-Back to Kolkata: Next day, we left for Kolkata from Port Blair for our continuous journey to Patna.

Important Note:

  • We have contacted local tour operator of Port Blair & Booked our own flight based on our convenience.
  • We have not preferred High Class Hotel & Resort but a decent one with cleanliness.
  • There are Private Ships as well which will take you to Havelock Island & Neil Island, but we preferred Govt. Ship for 2 reasons. 1st, It is cost effective & 2nd if you can go on top deck to enjoy view of sea & its surroundings islands.
