Jaipur, known as the Pink City, is a cultural rich place & is known for its Historical Places, Vibrant Culture & Food. It was established by Jai Singh II, The Raja of Amber. He shifted his capital from Amber to the new city because of the rapidly growing population & an increasing water scarcity.
Jaipur is known as Pink City, as the color pink was symbolic of hospitality, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur painted entire city Pink. You will still find this color in Old City or Walled City, in which entire market front buildings is still painted in Pink. Inside these wall, the Famous Hawa Mahal is also located.

Also, it is now well connected on the newly built section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Apart from Road Connectivity, it also has good & direct connectivity from major parts of country.
Number of Days Plan & Itinerary
Ideal time to spend in Jaipur is 2 to 3 Days, which will differ from person to person. Below is the suggested day wise schedule with places to visit. Post that, other cities in Rajasthan can also be explored like Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer & other nearby areas for Historical Places & Temples.
Important Note: Will suggest keeping 1 extra day to Visit Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, which is the most religious place of Rajasthan. It is just 65 KM from Jaipur. Devotees from across India & World visits for worship.
Day-1: Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal, Govind Dev Ji Temple & Local Market for Shopping. All these are at one location & you will also be able to check all Pink Wall for Jaipur here, due to which it is called as Pink City.

Day-3: Jaigarh Fort & Nahargarh Fort visit can be planned on 3rd day. Also explore Local Cusinies & Famous Food Joints.
Must Try Food Places
I will suggest 3 must try food places for 3 days & additional 1, if you would like enjoy ambience inside restaurants.
Where to Stay
I would suggest staying near Jaipur Railway Station, which all types or budget of hotels are available nearby. There are 2 reasons for it, 1st all the places you will visit is nearer to it & easy availability of Transport.
